second experience at Lucca Comics, which is confirmed to be an exciting event for people like me who is passionate about the world of comics and graphic arts and narrative in general. Obviously, the excitement and wonder of last year are somewhat 'diminished, after this year I knew what to expect, but even so I came back pleasantly pleased. To begin with, to work and study reasons, many of my friends is currently away from Sicily, Lucca has meant that we can review and spend four days in the company, and even for this it is worth it. Second consideration, if you live in a world like mine, where the cartoon and animation market is relegated to small niches that barely survive, agonizing in the difficult economic situation, a fair like that of Lucca is a breath of ' oxygen, providing a quantity and variety of stuff that is hard to describe. Third, and last but not least, we are the authors, that people used to think of them as abstract figures only devoted to drawing, much less real characters who make paper, represent a considerable attraction. On this last point, however, I would like considerations. As I was see someone, a fair like the Lucca Comics, one of the most important events in Europe related to the cartoon, one might expect some big name anymore. Indeed, the sudden and unexpected absence of Grant Morrison has stripped the show of one of the big attractions of this year. However, from here to say that there's just nobody wants! Just to say a couple of names, have not seen Mike Allred, Gary Frank, Ken Niimura, Scott Morse, who certainly are not newcomers in the scene of the comic world. In addition, Add to this, a large group of Italian authors, working both at home and abroad, who have enriched the various stands with their presence and their sketches. This is perhaps one of the sore points of this year, if we see it purely Italian view of the fair. In fact, there is no one who designs for free. Until last year, enough to approach a guy with a pencil and make a little worse 'tail for a drawing. At best, the editors asked the author to house to buy the book presented as news. This year, however, not only the latter has become a rule, but also begins to take off the habit to the committee, in the same style of American convention in which the authors,
out of their booths, a sort list prices depending on the type of design required. From one point of view, it restores dignity to a work that was being viewed as something due in respect of those who approached the stand, when in other places, for the same type of work, designers are overpaid. Second, however, we must come to terms with the illusions of those who, with eyes ecstatically, look at those lines come out from your fingers and take the form of beloved characters, and you see this private pleasure from the fact that no can afford to pay fifty euro or more for a drawing. Just in this speech is part of the pleasant surprise of this year, that is the stand of Drawers, a clique of nice p
ersonaggi who decided to take only a small space dedicated to the design. Unique merchandise for sale, prints of these authors, who alternated in different times and made drawings to all those who bought just one. As a reward to those who bought a folder with all the Halloween themed prints, participation in the final draw of three groups of original, in which, to my delight, I was the first to be raffled off! But beyond the prize, the thing I was really glad to find a cheerful and fun, just like I expect it to be a place where they are born comic. This is where I met Daniela, Alessia, Luke, Sabrina, Henry Andrea, Elena, and many other masters of line and color. All in all, it
just that I'm trying to Lucca to know the people who create the dreams. And then, to paraphrase a well known advertising, see DDM eating a croissant at nine o'clock in the morning while drawing is priceless!
