Deffrence Between Petty Theft & Burglary
nobodies
That invisibility is a highly exploited by the writers who choose subjects of their stories as those related to the supernatural. Without straining too much memory, I can remember HG Wells, although I must confess that I have unfortunately not yet had occasion to read his works, but I promise to do so as soon as possible. It is precisely the novel by Welles, who was inspired to write this Jeff Lemire's graphic novel, at least from what we can read the back cover, which it takes the basic theme and transposing them into a comic opera rather special.
you know those small towns in North America, those immersed in the snow eight months a year, those where the entrance is a sign stating 'Welcome to ... Home of ... Population n °...'? Those where everybody knows everybody, everybody has some secret, and especially where nothing ever happens, absolutely nothing? Large Mouth is just one of those. Imagine what can happen when playing the bell at the counter of the only motel a guy appears completely covered with bandages, which is imprisoned in her room for days and leaves only a few minutes to get food. Of course, everyone starts talking. Who will be because he has had in that way, what did you do ... the classic questions of strange just got stranger. But along with these begins to creep into the minds of the inhabitants of the worm paranoia, which leads them to believe that the meek and taciturn John Griffen could be a criminal on the run trying to hide his face from looking for. Only one person does not seem frightened by the stranger rather, it is curious, to the point of trying timidly get in touch with him: the young Vickie, a lonely teenager and a bit 'in contrast to the provincial mentality of the father.
The story woven by Lemire is pleasant and full of insights, in particular, it is interesting to see how an event is normal as the arrival of a person in a hotel can, on the basis of some features, come to disturb the ' social balance of an entire community. Fear of the unknown and the other is the main theme of the whole story, but it is also interesting to see how it is composed of the state of mind of this character, clearly tormented by remorse, and on the run from the past, not only to the frenzied search for a solution for the evil that afflicts him, but above all a place to be left alone.
Very nice, finally, the graphic treatment, which is the same author Lemire, that with a nice choice trichromatic (white, black and blue) can make perfect environmental and psychological atmosphere of the story while maintaining a very classic approach and balanced of the table. Ultimately, a good graphic novel that deserves the full hardback and cardboard that has been given. We hope to see you soon in Italy other works by the same author.
