My Dog Is Spotting Blood From His Penis

The good thief

interesting novel, bought by chance, a bit 'like almost everything I buy, after all, and that made me discover a kind of reading that I was missing a long time. This kind of novel not because you like what you leave at the end of the last page, but go for what they found while reading it. Wanting to frame in a genre, we could fit it between the novels of formation, those that tell of the growth path of a young man catapulted into the world. In fact, this aspect is present in the novel by Hannah Tinti, but it is certainly not the only and perhaps not even the most significant.

Ren, an orphan raised in a convent outside of which was abandoned just born, lives his life with the other orphans, waiting and hoping for a miracle that one day someone will come to adopt it before they reach the age where it can be enlisted in the army. And just when you least expect it, that moment comes. A young man, who claims to be the uncle of the boy, takes him claiming to be the only family he has left. But, just took away the boy, Benjamin Nab is proving very different from what was told to the monks of the monastery. In fact, behind the sharp-talking and that air of one who knows the world, there is a hidden cheat licensed as Ren will discover soon will be able to see it working. Thus begins a winding path lined with shady business, replete with miraculous tonic, pitiful performances to dupe the gullible, drinking and various stratagems to pull a living, well beyond the margins of legality, a path that will be used to bring the boy that he never dared to ask even in his most secret desires.

The novel proceeds, with a linear writing and clean, impersonal narration and a rapid pace through a series of adventure stories, some humorous and other dramatic, until they merge in some cases in a grotesque. But this is not, in my opinion, the strength of the novel. Beyond Dickensian style, the interludes of fantasy and macabre of strokes and almost disturbing horror story, the ones that stand out are the characters.
everyone we meet along the path of Ren straight out of a gallery of figures well outside of the royalties of everyday life. A trickster storyteller, a former teacher alcoholic, a giant purple dress murderess in exhumed and buried alive, a deaf landlady, a dwarf who lives on a roof and down the chimney of the fireplace, damn twins, a doctor who illegally buy bodies for to anatomical studies, a shady industry with a parade of thugs to act as his bodyguards. From this absurd jumble of personalities, the young man Ren know, with great imagination and story-telling ability, get the family that in his vision of an orphan that can not be the greatest treasure. And, last but not least, the novel gives us a great truth: in those moments when Ren and Benjamin will need to get off the hook, we will discover with them the unstoppable power and the irresistible charm of a story well told.

He turned and looked at the store where you made the wine, then the chapel and then the orphanage. It was hard to believe that it would no longer worked, prayed and stayed there. Everything she had ever wanted was to leave, but now he was going to do it felt uncomfortable. He went up to the high wall that surrounded the buildings and pressed his palm on the wet bricks. It had the consistency of the time.

How Much Does Threading Cost

Kill Your Boyfriend

This time, rather than the visionary and hallucinatory Morrison with which we are accustomed to have to do since we are dealing with the cynically and ruthlessly critical of society. That of the first part of "Animal Man", or the first five or six pages of "The Invisibles", so to speak. There are absurd dialogue, there are creatures the unlikely nature, there are not superheroes. There is only one teenage girl, anonymous and bored by the monotonous life and totally predictable, cliché immersed in the company of a middle-class neighborhood well, where the biggest concern is what family might think the neighbors. At one point this girl he sees fall in his life the classic punk, wild and irresistible, that puts before the possibility of a life lived well beyond the boundaries of legality and morality. The typical boy sent (literally) to an orphanage newborn in a cardboard box in which they handed over the stamps, and grew very poorly, and for which sex, alcohol, drugs and weapons are the only reasons for living. It is obvious that the presence of disturbing that this can not but have some effect on the life of a girl in a complicated and dangerous period such as adolescence. What to do? Continue his life of hardship and platitudes as if nothing had happened, or kill your boy and fleeing, not knowing where to go, chased by the police, and having the sole purpose of spending a flash of pure unconsciousness and vitality?

Ruthless and few know how to be irreverent, Grant Morrison not miss the opportunity to criticize every aspect of contemporary society, hypocritical, right-minded and respectable family which has some scheletruccio in the closet, but for which you should not talk, the fake anarchists and revolutionaries, that under the veil of artistic context hide just a bunch of empty words and the concrete and paralyzing fear that prevents almost always act to those who spend much time talking. In the end, the real revolution (if one can define its final act) the offender will do just that, with a hand grenade which was intended to be only a symbolic image and concept. And if ten years can be enough to turn a teenager into a good mother, it is said that the lesson from insegnatale little good that you fell in love, that of picking up their lives and change it, by all means, lawful or that it is illegal, it can not yet bear fruit.

What Virus Is Going Around In January 2010

THE SOCIAL PERSON

Today on America24 :

TIME today announced that the traditional face on the cover of "Person of the Year" for 2010 will be to late adolescence Marc Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook. This
motivation:

"Almost seven years ago, in February 2004, when she was a nineteen year old freshman at Harvard, Zuckerberg created a website from his bedroom at the College. His name TheFacebook.com, and was presented as an "electronic directory that connects people through social networks of universities." This year, Facebook - which has lost on the way the article "the" - reached the 550milionesimo writing. One person every twelve on this planet has a Facebook account. Taken together, Facebook users have a host who speaks 75 languages, spent 700 billion minutes a year on the site, and increases by about 700 thousand people every day. What happened? In less than seven years, Zuckerberg has tied one-twelfth of the entire world population in a single network, thus creating a social almost double than the U.S. population. If facebbok were a country, would be the third largest in the world population, second only to China and India. It began as a joke, a hobby, but turned into something real, something that has changed the way in which human beings relate to each other on a plan that involves the entire species. Today we conduct our social life through a network of non-profit ... that, at least on paper, made billionaire Zuckerberg six times. Facebook has emerged as the social fabric of American life, indeed, not only American but a human one: almost half of all American citizens have a Facebook account, but 70% of Facebook users live outside the USA. It is a given permanent social reality of our global economy. We have entered the era of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg is the man who brought us here. "
's all true, although in hindsight it is a phenomenon that has scored at least the last three or four years, and 2010 in particular, the growth of the site that this year was no follow without spikes a constant trend in place for years . If anything, this is the year in which this story has been told to the world, being represented in film "The Social Network , which in turn could be seen in many ways the film of the year.

Last year, the "Person of the Year" for TIME was the 2009 Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, the year before, of course, the newly elected Barack Obama.
This year the favorite seemed to be the founder of Wikileaks Julian Assange, who also won the poll popular on the site of the week (where Zuckerberg was stopped just in tenth place), but that had already appeared on the cover the number of two weeks ago, which sounded like effects in second place on the podium.
Not surprisingly, the portrait that supports and supplements the grounds gives you a sort of justification:

"Zuckerberg and Assange are two sides of same coin. Both express a desire for transparency. While Assange attacks institutions and governments with a degree involuntary transparency with the aim of undermining, Zuckerberg puts individuals in a position to share information voluntarily, with the idea to strengthen them. Assange sees the world as full of enemies, real and imaginary; Zuckmberg sees it full of potential friends. Both have little account of privacy: if Assange because it feels like something that allows the ill to flourish, and in case of Zuckerberg because he sees it as a cultural anachronism, a hindrance than a connection more effective and focused among the people. "

The piece ends by noting that "in 26 years, Zuckerberg is one year older than what had been the first" Man of the Year "for TIME, Charles Lindbergh - another young man who used the technology to build a bridge between continents. Is the same age that had Queen Elizabeth when she was "Person of the Year" in 1952, but unlike the Queen, did not inherit an empire: it created one. "
